Salman Khan To Host IIFA Awards 2022 In Abu Dhabi. Here's All You Need To Know

IIFA Awards, which will be held in Abu Dhabi, will be hosted by Salman Khan.

New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan will host the 22nd edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards in Abu Dhabi next year. The upcoming edition of the awards show will be conducted at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi on March 19, 2022. The organisers shared an update about IIFA Awards on its official Twitter handle.

IIFA Awards 2022 Date Revealed

Several Bollywood stars will jet off to Abu Dhabi for the much-awaited awards show, which will be held on March 19, 2022. Ahead of the main event, the organisers will host IIFA Weekend on March 18.

"Important announcement. The 22nd edition of the biggest celebration of Indian cinema - IIFA Awards 2022 - is all set to be held on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi on March 18th and 19th, 2022! We are ready. Are you?," the tweet on IIFA's Twitter handle read. The gala event, which will celebrate the best of Hindi cinema, will be organised in UAE for the first time.

Salman Opens Up On Hosting IIFA Awards 2022

The 'Bharat' actor expressed his excitement over hosting the awards show in Abu Dhabi. "I have always enjoyed being a part of the IIFA Family and travelling to some great destinations but this year I am super happy that we are headed to one of my personal favorites, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. IIFA is always a memorable time and this year it will be an even bigger celebration as we celebrate the 75th year of India's independence and UAE's 50th Anniversary-Golden Jubilee celebration," Khan said in a statement as quoted as saying by IANS.

"Over the last 21 years, IIFA has not only given Indian cinema an international platform, but it has created a wonderful opportunity to take us to our fans and connect millions of people globally. I am proud and excited to get ready to host the 2022 IIFA Weekend & Awards Yas Island, Abu Dhabi as we unite the world through cinema & celebration", Salman added.

IIFA Awards 2020: Who Won Top Laurels?

The 21st edition of the IIFA Awards were slated to take place in from March 27 to 29, 2020 in Indore. However, they got postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis. Last month, the organising team announced the name of winners of different categories on Instagram handle.

Shahid Kapoor bagged the award for Best Actor for his performance in 'Kabir Singh' while Alia Bhatt lifted the winner's trophy for Best Actress for her role in 'Gully Boy'.

Salman Khan's Upcoming Films

On the professional front, Salman was last seen in 'Antim: The Final Truth'. The action drama co-starring Aayush Sharma released on November 26, 2021.

The 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' actor, who is currently busy hosting 'Bigg Boss 15', has 'Tiger 3' and 'Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali' in his kitty.
