Nishikant's next with Riteish to go on floors by December

Mumbai: Director Nishikant Kamat will start his upcoming directorial venture "Mauli" with actor Riteish Deshmukh in the lead, by December this year. The Marathi film has been produced by the "Banjo" actor who previously collaborated with Nishikant in "Lai Bhaari". When asked if he is doing the film, Nishikant told PTI, "Yes, that is true. It is called 'Mauli'. Riteish is producing and playing the lead. I am directing it. That I'd start in next 3- 4 months. It's a comedy action thriller." Apart from the Marathi film, the filmmaker is also busy writing a Hindi movie which will be a complete departure from the projects he has helmed in the past. The director, known for "Mumbai Meri Jaan", "Drishyam" and "Rocky Handsome", will delve into the romantic genre with his next Hindi film. "It is a romantic film. But (will) not (make it) very soon because I'm still at writing stages. Hopefully in next six months I will come with some announcements," he said. His latest film "Madari", which released last month, starred Irrfan Khan, who worked with the director in his Hindi debut "Mumbai Meri Jaan". When asked if he is in talks with Irrfan for a new project, Nishikant said, "Not as of now. It would always be an honour to work with that man because he is such a brilliant actor. But as of now I don't have a script for him. Probably we also need a break from each other for sometime."
