Jimmy Sheirgill, Ashutosh Rana's 'Shorgul' to release now on June 24, Makers avoid clash with 'Udta Punjab'

Mumbai: A 24 FPS Films Production, the Jimmy Sheirgill and Ashutosh Rana-starrer is based on intolerance and aspires to make audiences contemplate where humanity stands amidst the noise of religious, social, political and economic prejudice. The makers of the film had advanced their release date by a week, but now the film's producer Swatantra Vijay Singh says he wants to avoid a clash with "Udta Punjab", which is releasing on June 17, at the box office. READ INSIDE! “We don't want this message to be lost when an equally socially relevant film like 'Udta Punjab' is releasing and hence, the rescheduling, as audiences need time to relate and consume such heavy-on content thinking films,” Swatantra Vijay Singh said in a statement. "Our film has a strong message that comes in the form of a wake-up call for the masses to be the change they always wanted to see. This is a film that makes us think. Our film reinstates the gross reality of today where the voice of the common man is being manipulated to favour socio-political motives,” he added.
