Ghoomer Box Office Collection Day 5: Despite Glowing Reviews, Abhishek Bachchan Starrer Is Not Making Great Strides
The R Balki-directed movie has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics as well as many well-known cricketers.
New Delhi: 'Ghoomer' starring Saiyami Kher and Abhishek Bachchan has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics as well as many well-known cricketers. The R Balki-directed movie, on the other hand, doesn't seem to match the same box office outcomes. According to Sacnilk.com, the movie brought in about Rs 30 lakhs on Tuesday.
According to reports, 'Ghoomer', which premiered on Friday to favourable reviews made Rs 85 lakhs in its first weekend. It continued to bring in Rs 1.1 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.5 crore on Sunday owing to good word of mouth. On Monday, it dropped to about Rs 34 lakhs, and on Tuesday, it slipped to Rs 30 lakhs.
Saiyami recently acknowledged a bunch of people in a heartfelt letter for the positive feedback she has received for her role in it.
“This “athlete” image didn’t go with what a conventional “heroine” was meant to be. Instead of filling the cup, I was told to empty the vessel out of everything it contains. How do I become someone else if I am still holding on to what I am? So pour it all out. Balki gave me that. This film has my blood, sweat, tears, and heart. Anina is me, I am Anina. The palindrome extends beyond just a play on the name," she wrote in an Instagram post.
“To @anuragkashyap10 who filled my head with logic and brought back my confidence. To Balki, who filled my life up with magic by giving me this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. To AB who taught me kindness. To Shabana Maushi who showed me the importance of family. And to Angad, my first friend in the industry; thank you. To spending a year with one hand tied up. And to realizing that we’re stronger than what we think we think we are. To believing in oneself. To Ghoomer," she added.

Ivanka Das, Angad Bedi, and Shabana Azmi all play major roles in 'Ghoomer'. In the movie, Amitabh Bachchan and Angad Bedi's father, former cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi, also make a brief cameo. Saiyami Kher portrays Anina, a world-class batter who loses one hand just before making her international debut. She is a paraplegic trying to recover, and Abhishek plays her coach.
