From Drishyam 2 to Kantara: 2022 Turned Out To Be A Year Of Top-Notch Thrillers

New Delhi: A new wave in Hindi cinema was noticed in 2022, despite the fact that several Bollywood movies bombed at the box office. And among the many sub-genres, thrillers stood out the most. These movies made our list of favourites, whether they were suspense thrillers or dark comedies. This year's thriller movies were able to make the cash registers ring.

So we've put together a list of the top thrillers of 2022 that will keep you on the edge of your seat as the year winds down.

1. Drishyam 2

Ajay Devgn, who first captured the audience's attention with Drishyam, later returned with the sequel and won them over with its engaging plot. The movie takes up seven years after the first chapter when the police reopen Sam's murder investigation, ultimately putting the Salgaonkars in trouble again. The crime drama distinguished out among the others due to its great mystery and suspense.

2. Monica, O My  Darling

Vasan Bala's Monica, O My Darling offered a fresh viewpoint on the neo-noir comedic thriller genre. With Rajkummar Rao, Huma Qureshi, and Radhika Apte in the lead roles, the thriller is a treat for moviegoers and features a storyline full of plot twists. The movie, which is based on the Japanese novel Burutasu No Shinzou by Keigo Higashino, tells the tale of an ambitious guy who cooks up a sinister plan with a gang of unusual partners to achieve his dreams. 

3. Jalsa 

The lives of two women—Ruksana, her domestic worker, and Maya, a well-known journalist—are dramatically upended following a hit-and-run incident. The leads' strong performances are a big part of what keeps the audience hooked to the screen. Watch Jalsa to see the amazing screen presence of Vidya and Shefali.

4. HIT: The First Case

Another remake, but one that stands out from the pack due to Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra. This movie goes beyond being only an adaption for Hindi. In terms of the plot, a girl named Preethi inexplicably disappears in Hyderabad, and 32-year-old police officer Vikram must solve the case by all means while simultaneously coping with his own horrific past.

5. KGF Chapter 2

One of the most well-liked movies this year was certainly KGF Chapter 2, featuring Yash. The second part introduces Yash as Rocky, the brand-new ruler of the Kolar Gold Mines. The new cast members, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Srinidhi Shetty, and Prakash Raj, elevated the movie to new heights.

6. Vikram Vedha

The 2017 neo-noir action thriller Vikram Vedha was remade in Hindi with Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles. The engaging plot and strong performances by the lead actors helped the film gain a good rating online. Roshan and Khan gave an unvarnished performance that connected with the audience.

7. Bob Biswas

The antagonistic character from Kahaani's backstory was expanded in this spin-off movie. Abhishek Bachchan plays hitman-for-hire Bob Biswas. As he tries to put his identity together and choose where his life will go from here, Bob struggles with this quandary.

8. Thar

Munabao, a small village in the Thar desert on the border between India and Pakistan, is where the film is set. Antique merchant Siddharth (Harsh Vardhan Kapoor) passes through the village that has just been shaken by numerous violent killings. Anil Kapoor's Surekha Singh, the local inspector who is looking into these deaths. Thar brings neo-noir with a fresh viewpoint to the Indian viewers. 

9. Kantara

Rishab Shetty wrote, directed, and starred in the Kannada film, which went on to become a smashing blockbuster across India. It quickly rose to the top of recent movies with the most favourable reviews. The film depicts the relationship between humans and nature in a lovely way, showing a battle between good and evil among the people.
