The court subsequently ordered Sushil Kumar to appear in person on March 29, 2025, to explain why action should not be taken against him for smoking during the court proceedings.

The Tis Hazari court in Delhi saw a serious violation of rules when a litigant was caught smoking during a court proceeding conducted through videoconference. The man was asked about his misconduct, but he left the virtual courtroom instead of explaining, as per a Bar and Bench report.
The court subsequently ordered Sushil Kumar to appear in person on March 29, 2025, to explain why action should not be taken against him for smoking during the court proceedings.
"Court notice be issued to applicant Sushil Kumar for appearing in person, in the Court, on the next date of hearing (NDOH)," District Judge (West) Shiv Kumar ordered on March 25.
Kumar was initially talking on a mobile phone. He was asked not to talk on the phone as it created disturbance, but he didn't listen to the court's direction, and his voice was put on mute mode. Kumar apologised for his misconduct.
As the court was dictating the order, the staff pointed out that Kumar was smoking during the video conference. When the court asked the applicant about his misconduct, he left the video call.
