'Devara: Part 1', starring Jr NTR, has experienced a mix of highs and lows at the box office. Released last Friday, the film made an impressive start, earning Rs 82.5 crore on its first day.

'Devara: Part 1', starring Jr NTR, has experienced a mix of highs and lows at the box office. Released last Friday, the film made an impressive start, earning Rs 82.5 crore on its first day. Over the course of its first week, the movie has grossed over Rs 200 crore, but its collections have fluctuated significantly day by day.

'Devara: Part1' box office collection

After a strong opening, 'Devara' saw a dip in earnings, with Rs 38.2 crore on the second day, followed by Rs 39.9 crore on its first Sunday. However, the numbers dropped considerably on Days 4 and 5, with the film collecting just Rs 12.75 crore on Monday and Rs 14 crore on Tuesday.

The October 2 Gandhi Jayanti holiday brought some respite, with 'Devara' raking in Rs 21 crore on Day 6. But after the holiday, collections dipped again, bringing in only Rs 7.25 crore on Day 7. By the end of its first week, 'Devara' had amassed Rs 215.6 crore in total.

The majority of the film's earnings came from its Telugu version, which grossed Rs 164.25 crore, while its Hindi version brought in Rs 43.75 crore. The remaining collections were divided among the Kannada (Rs 1.7 crore), Tamil (Rs 4.8 crore), and Malayalam (Rs 1.23 crore) versions.

Directed by Koratala Siva, 'Devara' features Jr NTR in a dual role, supported by Saif Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Prakash Raj. The movie is set in a post-independence coastal village, where Jr NTR's character battles smuggling.

Joker: Folie à Deux Sees Modest Box Office Opening

Meanwhile, the Hollywood film 'Joker: Folie à Deux', starring Joaquin Phoenix, made its Indian debut on October 2, 2024, but faced a relatively modest start. Despite premiering at the Venice Film Festival in September, the movie only collected Rs 1.25 crore on its release day in India. Over the next few days, its total box office earnings reached Rs 6.40 crore.

In Chennai, the film saw its highest occupancy rate, with theatres filled to 19.5 percent on average. During night screenings, occupancy peaked at 23 percent, while Bengaluru and Ahmedabad reported much lower occupancy rates of around 8.5 percent. Overall, 'Joker 2' saw a 22.7 percent occupancy on its first day, with higher rates in premium formats like IMAX 2D, where occupancy reached 64.58 percent.

On October 1, 'Joker 2' was released in Korea, where it grossed 1.3 million dollars on its debut. The movie is set to release in the United States on October 4, with global box office projections aiming for $140 million in its opening weekend.

Devara and Joker: A Box Office Analysis

When comparing the box office performances of 'Devara' and 'Joker: Folie à Deux', it's clear that the two films have had different trajectories. 'Devara' opened strong with Rs 82.5 crore on its first day and crossed Rs 200 crore within its first week, driven largely by its Telugu audience. In contrast, 'Joker 2' had a more modest debut in India, earning Rs 1.25 crore on Day 1 and a total of Rs 6.40 crore in its first few days.

While 'Devara' benefitted from its large fanbase and regional appeal, 'Joker 2' is expected to perform better globally, with projections aiming for a $140 million debut weekend.
