Box Office Collection: Disappointing Weekend For Phone Bhoot, Mili, And Double XL

The weekend that passed by was crucial for all three films to change the game at the Box Office, yet not much of a difference was noticed.

New Delhi: 'Phone Bhoot', 'Mili', and 'Double XL' clashed at the Box Office on Friday, 4th November, as the three films were all released on the same day. But, unfortunately, all three films fared poorly at the box office. Although 'Phone Bhoot' fared better than the other two, with a Box Office turnover of about Rs 2 crore on its first dat, still the number was shocking for a Katrina Kaif- starrer. Out of the three films, 'Double XL' scored the least on Day 1.

The weekend that passed by was crucial for all three films to change the game at the Box Office, yet not much of a difference was noticed. The business improved only a bit, drawing Rs 7.85 crore at the Box Office for 'Phone Bhoot'- a rather disappointing sum when compared to other Kaif-starrers like the Tiger Franchise which was a Rs 300 crore film.

On its second and third days, 'Phone Bhoot' made Rs 2.75 and Rs 3.05 crore respectively. Trade expert Taran Adarsh tweeted the statistics and noted that the bulk pockets "remained dull" and that the contribution came primarily from the metros.

As far as Sonakshi Sinha- Huma Qureshi's 'Double XL' is concerned, the film could not even manage to garner a crore over the weekend. The movie only brought in 0.5 crores of rupees over the weekend, said trade analyst Girish Johar. On Day 1, the movie made Rs. 25 lakhs, while on Day 2, it made between Rs. 20 to 30 lakhs. The movie had a respectable budget, but the fact that it only grossed less than a crore in three days shows that its box office performance has been disastrous.

Janhvi Kapoor starrer 'Mili' too has been struggling to reach the mark of Rs 1 crore ever since its release. On day 2 and 3, the film garnered Rs 0.60 crores and Rs 0.80 crores respectively.

Bollywood has had a challenging year as the majority of its high-profile, big-budget productions have underperformed. The most surprising examples include Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan, and four films starring Akshay Kumar: Bachchan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan, and now Ram Setu. 'Thank God'- a comedy by Ajay Devgn also fizzled very early and failed to draw many viewers. Several movies, notably Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and The Kashmir Files, have found success at the box office. In contrast, South Asian movies like Ponniyin Selvan, RRR, and KGF Chapter 2 have made millions worldwide.
