Akshay Kumar’s cameo in Stree 2 last year garnered significant attention. Interestingly, while he delivered films as a lead with Khel Khel Mein and Sarfira in 2024, it was Stree 2 that became his most successful venture. The film has now earned the title of the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time, amassing over ₹800 crore at the worldwide box office. Fans are now eager to know if Akshay will reprise his role in Stree 3 and have a more prominent presence in Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe.

Akshay Kumar Addresses His Role in Stree 3

Recently, Maddock Films announced their upcoming slate of films, revealing that Stree 3 is scheduled for a theatrical release on August 13. During the trailer launch of Sky Force, Akshay referred to the film as his “dedh” collaboration with Dinesh Vijan.

When questioned about his involvement in the producer’s horror-comedy universe, Akshay told News18, “What can I say? Dinesh and Jyoti (Deshpande; producer) will have to decide that. They’re the ones to pump in the money." Appearing to confirm his role in Stree 3, he added, “Aur Amar Kaushik ko direct karna hai.”

Responding to the comments, Dinesh Vijan affirmed, “Of course, he’s a part of the universe! He’s our Thanos (laughs)."

Akshay’s Role in Stree 2

For those unfamiliar, Akshay’s character in Stree 2 was introduced as the head of a hospital for the mentally disabled. Although his character’s name was not revealed, he was described as the last surviving member of Sarkata’s bloodline, possessing the key to permanently defeating the ghost. It will be intriguing to see if Akshay eventually headlines a standalone horror-comedy film.

Released on August 15, 2024, Amar Kaushik’s Stree 2 dominated the domestic box office for nearly 1.5 months, earning over ₹600 crore in India. The film featured Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles.
