Akshay Kumar's 'Laxmmi Bomb' Gets A New Title After Uproar; Film Renamed As 'Laxmii'

The makers of Akshay Kumar starrer Laxmmi Bomb have changed the title few days ahead of the film's release.

New Delhi: Akshay Kumar's 'Laxmmi Bomb' has been hogging all the limelight ever since the makers unveiled the trailer earlier this month. While the trailer of the horror comedy drama received a good response, the flick has stirred controversy for many reasons. Several fans expressed their displeasure over the movie's title as they believed it insulted Hindu Goddess Laxmi. A segment of Twitters users even trended the hashtag #BoycottLaxmmiBomb and accused the makers of promoting love jihad. New Title Of 'Laxmmi Bomb'

Raghava Lawrence, who has directed the much-awaited flick, went to the Central Board of Film Certification for censor certificate on Thursday (October 29).  The makers of the film have decided to change the title from 'Laxmmi Bomb' to 'Laxmii' after discussing with the CBFC. Bollywood critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to social media to inform the fans about the title change of 'Laxmmi Bomb'. He tweeted, "NEW DEVELOPMENT... #LaxmmiBomb title changed... New title: #Laxmii... Premieres 9 Nov 2020 on #DisneyPlusHotstarVIP... Stars #AkshayKumar and #KiaraAdvani."

Karni Sena Sends Legal Notice To Makers

According to a report in Zoom, Shri Rajput Karni Sena sent a legal notice to the makers of Akshay Kumar's film. They demanded a title change and accused the producers of 'purposely' using 'Laxmmi Bomb' with the intention of to “disrespect” the goddess.

'Laxmii' Trailer

The trailer of 'Laxmii' reportedly got over 70 million views within 24 hours of release. It became the most viewed trailer in India in a day. Several tinsel town celebs including Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon and Vaani Kapoor praised the film's trailer and lauded Akshay Kumar for playing a 'hatke' character.

'Laxmii' Release Date

'Laxmii' will premiere directly on Disney+ Hotstar on November 9, 2020. The flick, which is the Hindi remake of Tamil hit 'Muni: Kanchana 2', has been produced by Cape of Good Films, Tusshar Entertainment House and Shabinaa Entertainment. It couldn't hit the silver screens on its scheduled date due to the COVID-19 crisis. Akshay Kumar's character will be seen possessed by the ghost of a transgender, who will be seek revenge from her enemies.
