‘Drishyam’ Director Nishikant Kamat Passes Away; Confirms Riteish Deshmukh

Riteish Deshmukh worked with Nishikant Kamat in Marathi movie ‘Lai Bhaari’ shared on Twitter, “I will miss you my friend. #NishikantKamat Rest In Peace.”

The year 2020 is turning out to be a doom’s year for the Entertainment industry. The tinsel town has lost many legendary artists in this fateful year. From Irrfan Khan, Rishi Kapoor, Saroj Khan, Sushant Singh Rajput, it is now the director Nishikant Kamat who breathed his last on August 17, 2020. The director was hospitalised in a critical condition in a hospital in Hyderabad a few days back. He was in ventilator support and was fighting for life and death. Riteish Deshmukh took to his Twitter and shared the news of Nishikant Kamat’s passing away. The ‘Housefull’ actor said that he is going to miss his friend. His tweet read, “I will miss you my friend. #NishikantKamat Rest In Peace.”
Randeep Hooda also took to his Twitter and bid farewell to the talented director. He wrote, “Farewell Nishi!! You lived and died by what you decided you loved more than anything else .. I’m sure you had no regrets about much .. thank you for all the movies, all the fun stories, warmth and smiles #NishikantKamat”
Earlier today, Riteish Deshmukh took to his Twitter handle to clarify rumours of filmmaker Nishikant Kamat passing away.  Soon after news of Kamat passing away at a Hyderabad hospital surfaced, the actor tweeted, “Nishikant kamat is on ventilator support. He is still alive & fighting. Let’s pray for him.”
Reportedly, the filmmaker is said to have suffered from liver cirrhosis in the past. Nishikant Kamat also acted in the Marathi films like ‘Saatchya Aat Gharat’. He made his directorial debut with the Marathi movie ‘Dombivali Fast’ in 2005 which went to become the biggest Marathi film of that year. The movies also bagged the ‘National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi’ in 2006. He was also seen portraying a negative role in John Abraham starrer movie ‘Rocky Handsome’.
