Actress-MP Nusrat Jahan Seeks Police Help After Video Chat App Uses Her Photo Without Consent

New Delhi: Bengali actress and Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP Nusrat Jahan lodged a police complaint on Monday after a video chat app used her photo without her consent for its online promotion. The MP took to her Twitter and slammed the app ‘FancyU – Video Chat App’ saying that this is totally unacceptable and she is ready to take this up legally. Nusrat also tagged the Cyber cell of Kolkata Police to look into the matter.

The mobile application used a photo of the actress with a caption, ‘Make new friends while at home during lockdown’. The MP shared a screenshot of the advertisement in her tweet and tagged Police Commissioner Anuj Sharma seeking legal action against the same.
Nusrat Jahan’s tweet read, “This is totally unacceptable - using pictures without consent. Would request the Cyber Cell of @KolkataPolice to kindly look into the same. I am ready to take this up legally. @CPKolkata”
Reportedly, a senior officer of the Kolkata Police assured that its cyber cell has already started a probe into the matter.
An elected Member of Parliament for Basirhat, Nusrat Jahan has also appeared in a number of Bengali movies including ‘Har Har Byomkesh’, ‘Khokha 420’, ‘Yoddha – The Warrior’ and many more.
