IIFA 2023 Dates Changed, Awards Will Now Be Held In May

Earlier, it was announced that the International Indian Film Academy and Awards (IIFA) was scheduled for February 10,11 in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

New Delhi: The 23rd edition of IIFA awards' date has been postponed. IIFA 2023 will now be held in the month of May. Earlier, it was announced that the International Indian Film Academy and Awards (IIFA) was scheduled for February 10,11 in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. However, now the award extravaganza will take place on May 26 and May 27, 2023.

Earlier, the nomination list for IIFA 2023 was released. Among the contenders for Best Director are Ayan Mukerji ( for Brahmastra), Sanjay Leela Bhansali ( for Gangubai Kathiawadi), Aneez Bazmee ( for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2), Jasmeet K Reen ( for Darlings), Vasan Bala ( for Monica O My Darling) and R Madhavan ( for Rocketry: The Nambi Effect).

In the Best Picture category are films like 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2', 'Darlings', 'Drishyam 2' and 'Vikram Vedha'. 

In the Best Actor ( Male) category are the likes of Hrithik Roshan( Vikram Vedha), Kartik Aaryan ( Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2), Abhishek Bachchan ( Dasvi), Ajay Devgn( Drishyam 2), Rajkummar Rao ( Monica O My Darling), and Anupam Kher ( The Kashmir Files).

Meanwhile, in the Best Actor ( Female) category, there are actors like Alia Bhatt ( Gangubai Kathiawadi, Darlings), Shefali Shah ( Darlings), Yami Gautam Dhar( A Thursday) and Tabu ( Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2). 

Meanwhile, Tabu is also nominated for the Best Supporting Actor ( female) category as well. Sheeba Chadha ( Badhaai Do), Mouni Roy ( Brahmastra), Nimrit Kaur( Dasvi) and Radhika Apte( Monica O My Darling) are also contenders in this category.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor ( male) category for his cameo in 'Brahmastra'. He will be competing against Abhishek Bannerjee ( Bhediya), Vijay Raaz( Gangubai Kathiawadi), Anil Kapoor( Jug Jugg Jeeyo) and Sikander Kher ( Monica O My Darling).

In the best story category, Aya Mukerji category has been nominated for 'Brahmastra', while Akshat Ghildial and Suman Adhikary  has been nominated for 'Badhaai Do', R Balki for 'Chup', Jasmeet K Reen and Parveez Shaikh have been nominated for 'Dalings' while Vivek Agnihotri has been nominated for 'The Kashmir Files'.

There are numerous other categories in which nominations have been filed for adapted story, music, best playback singer and various other technical categories. Alia Bhatt's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' has been nominated in various categories and will also be the highlight of the event.

Actors Abhishek Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar and Maniesh Paul will be hosting the award ceremony.
