American Model Gigi Hadid Arrested For Possession of Marijuana On The Cayman Islands
American model Gigi Hadid was arrested in Cayman Islands while she was on a vacation. The supermodel was arrested for possession of cannabis while vacationing there.
New Delhi: American model Gigi Hadid was arrested in Cayman Islands while she was on a vacation. The supermodel was arrested for possession of cannabis while vacationing there. As per E! news, the 28-year-old was reportedly arrested at Owen Roberts International Airport on July 10 after arriving in the Cayman Islands with a friend on a private plane.
The E! News portal also quoted a news article in local outlet Cayman Marl Road, that said that soon after Hadid and her pal arrived via a private plane, customs officials found 'ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja' in their luggage.
The two were then taken to Prisoner Detention Centre, where they were later released on bail. Hadid and her friend were arrested on "suspicion of importation of ganja and importation of Utensils used for the consumption of ganja," the same report added.
The possession of cannabis was found to be utlilised for personal use but the two were still arrested on the charges of "importation of marijuana and importation of utensils to smoke the cannabis," reported TMZ.
According to Hadid's representative who spoke to E! news, "Gigi was traveling with marijuana purchased legally in NYC with a medical license.It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island."
The Cayman Marl Road report also added that Gihi Hadid and her friend McCarthy appeared in summary court on July 12m 2023 and were charged. The two pleaded guilty and were each fined $1,000, but no conviction was recorded.
Hadid's arrest comes shortly after Zayn Malik, her ex-boyfriend and father of her 2-year-old child, made headlines after he gave his first interview in almost 6 years on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
