Ayushmann Khurrana revisited a bittersweet memory, sharing how he felt when his much-anticipated interview with SRK never came to be, despite waiting for nearly four to five hours.

For many journalists, interviewing Shah Rukh Khan is a career milestone—his stellar acting, quick wit, and charismatic off-screen persona make him a dream guest. Interestingly, before becoming a Bollywood star himself, Ayushmann Khurrana also longed for this opportunity during his early days as a radio jockey and journalist.
Although he came tantalizingly close to interviewing Bollywood’s Baadshah, fate had other plans. Little did Ayushmann know that while his interview dreams would remain unfulfilled, life had a grander twist in store—eventually sharing the stage with SRK as a co-host at prestigious award shows.
When Ayushmann Khurrana waited to interview SRK
Recently, Ayushmann revisited this bittersweet memory, sharing how he felt when his much-anticipated interview with SRK never came to be, despite waiting for nearly four to five hours. In a chat with Galatta Plus, he was asked what he would have asked SRK if the interview had happened. Ayushmann quipped, “It was a different me at that time. I would have asked for a role probably; I was a struggling actor. ‘Sir, mujhe role dedo; main actor banana chaahata hu’.”
Ayushmann's first meeting with SRK
He went on to recount, “I had written a note for him as well. I went to Powai, where he was shooting for a car commercial. I wrote, ‘Dear sir, I’m a huge fan. I met you at Kasol in Himachal during my first-ever vacation with my family at a hill station. You were wearing a red suit, shooting for Maya Memsaab (1993), and I was that kid in denim shorts. Now I’m 22 and want to be an actor.’ I gave the note to an assistant, but don’t know if he ever got it or not.”
Sharing more about the experience, Ayushmann said, “I knew I couldn’t take the interview then because he was busy. I was supposed to get like half-an-hour slot or something. I waited for like four to five hours, but he was busy with the ad.” He added that he later told SRK this story: “I told him about the note, but he said he never got it. The AD must have taken a glance at it and thrown it away.”
Ayushmann, who was last seen in Dream Girl 2 (2023), has certainly come a long way from his days as a starstruck aspiring actor to sharing the limelight with SRK himself.
