Speaking to News18, Vikrant said, “I’m not retiring… Just burned out. Need a long break. Miss home and health is also acting up… People misread it.”
In his initial post, shared on Monday, Vikrant had written, “The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal…But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor. So, coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right.”

The cryptic message led to speculation in the industry, with some of Vikrant’s colleagues expressing concern over his decision at a time when his career is thriving. His Haseen Dillruba co-star Harshvardhan Rane suggested it could be a publicity stunt, saying, “I’m praying this is just some PR activity forced on him by some filmmaker.”
However, many celebs took to the comments section of Vikrant's post to share their support and emphasise on the importance of a break. Dia Mirza wrote, "Breaks are best ❤️ you’ll be even more amazing on the other side 🤗 🐯"

On the same day, Vikrant attended a special screening of his film The Sabarmati Report with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. However, he refrained from addressing questions about his “retirement.”
Vikrant, who rose to fame through television roles, transitioned successfully into films, earning acclaim for performances in A Death in the Gunj, Lootera, and 12th Fail. The latter, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, became his biggest solo hit in 2023. This month, a behind-the-scenes feature about the making of 12th Fail, titled Zero Se Restart, will also be released in theatres.
