Terence Lewis Applauds Katrina Kaif's Transformation: 'She Was Not A Dancer, Was Very Tall And Statuesque'

Choreographer Terence Lewis recently reflected on his first impression of Katrina Kaif after her debut film ‘Boom’ and how her transformation left him stunned.

Katrina Kaif has earned a reputation as one of Bollywood’s finest dancers, effortlessly lighting up the screen with her performances. Choreographer Terence Lewis recently reflected on his first impression of Katrina after her debut film ‘Boom’ and how her transformation left him stunned.

Terrence Lewis applauds Katrina Kaif for her journey

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Terence recalled seeing Katrina perform early in her career and not being particularly impressed with her dance skills. However, when he later watched her in Race’s hit song ‘Zara Zara Touch Me,’ he was taken aback by her drastic improvement. He acknowledged the immense effort she put into refining her physique and dance techniques to achieve the success she enjoys today.

“After Boom, I did a show with her. She didn’t have that figure. And she couldn’t dance the way… When she did ‘Zara Zara Touch Me’, I called up Bosco (Martis, choreographer) and said, ‘Is this the same girl, with that figure?’ One of the most hardworking actors, Katrina Kaif. Because she was not a dancer. She wasn’t trained as a dancer. And she was very tall and statuesque, a big built. How she’s worked on her body! How she’s worked on her dance! Commendable,” Terence said.

Katrina Kaif on her initial struggle

Katrina herself has been open about her initial struggles with dance. In a past conversation with Bollywood Bubble, she admitted, “I could not dance. It’s not that they said that about me. No, I couldn’t dance. That was a fact. They were just stating the very obvious fact that was in front of them. I’ve said it many times before.”

She also credited choreographer Bosco Martis for helping her find confidence in her abilities. “Bosco was the first person to… I don’t know why or what he saw. Bosco was the first person to explain to me or talk to me. Because I was convinced that I was not a good dancer and I was never going to be a good dancer and I couldn’t dance and that was coming across. Bosco told me that you are a good dancer. You have it in you but you have things to work on,” she shared.

Over the years, Katrina has honed her craft, delivering some of Bollywood’s most iconic dance numbers from 'Sheila Ki Jawani' and 'Chikni Chameli' to 'Kamli' and 'Kaala Chashma’.
