Sushant Singh Rajput Case: Pooja Bhatt Quotes Akshay Kumar’s Old Post, Dia Mirza Seeks Apology For Rhea Chakraborty

Nearly five years after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a closure report, ruling out any foul play and categorising it as a "simple case of suicide."

The tragic loss of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June 2020 left the Indian film industry and his fans in shock. The 34-year-old was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14. However, what followed was an unprecedented media storm, with his then-girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, becoming the prime target of allegations ranging from abetment of suicide to financial fraud. Social media turned into a battlefield of conspiracy theories. Nearly five years later, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a closure report, ruling out any foul play and categorising it as a "simple case of suicide." The report also exonerates Rhea Chakraborty, her family, and others who had been implicated in the case.

Pooja Bhatt quotes an old post of Akshay Kumar

With the closure report now public, Actor Pooja Bhatt quoted an old post by Akshay Kumar that stated, "SC directs CBI to investigate Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. May the truth always prevail. Prayers." Responding to this, Pooja wrote, "The CBI’s March 22, 2025, closure report confirms Sushant Singh Rajput’s death as suicide with no foul play, clearing Rhea Chakraborty and others. The truth has prevailed. Prayers answered."

While some saw her post as a simple statement, others speculated that it might be a subtle dig at those who had earlier fueled conspiracies.

What Dia Mirza wrote?

Actor Dia Mirza also voiced her concerns on Instagram, demanding accountability. She wrote, "Who in the media will have the grace to put out a written apology to Rhea Chakraborty and her family? You went on a witch hunt. You caused deep anguish and harassment just for TRPs. Apologise. That’s the very least you can do."

About CBI's closure report

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has submitted two separate closure reports in connection with the death of Sushant Singh Rajput—one concerning the abetment to suicide case filed by his father, and the other pertaining to allegations made by Rhea Chakraborty, against his sisters.

The CBI had been investigating both cases: one filed by KK Singh with the Patna Police, accusing Chakraborty of abetment to suicide and misappropriating Rs 15 crore from Rajput’s accounts, and the other lodged by Chakraborty in Bandra, alleging that the actor’s sisters had procured and administered medication to him based on a fraudulent prescription issued by a Delhi-based doctor.

In her complaint to Bandra Police, which was later taken over by the CBI, Chakraborty claimed that Rajput passed away just five days after being wrongfully prescribed the medication.

After a thorough probe, which included expert opinions, crime scene analysis, witness testimonies, and forensic evaluations, the CBI concluded that there was no substantial evidence to support claims that anyone was responsible for driving the actor to suicide, officials stated.

The court has scheduled a hearing on April 8 to decide whether to accept the CBI's closure report. If the report is upheld, all pending cases in connection with the matter will be officially closed.
