IPL 2025 and Operation Sindoor
This year’s IPL season has been shaped by geopolitical tensions. Following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’—a massive military response targeting over 100 terrorists across the border. This was followed by a brief escalation with Pakistan, including cross-border shelling and attempted drone strikes.
India retaliated with precision strikes on radar systems and airfields at 11 Pakistani bases. A ceasefire agreement was reached on May 10. Due to the conflict, the IPL was paused for a week, resuming on May 17, with the final rescheduled from May 25 to June 3.
As the cricketing world waits to crown a new champion, Shankar Mahadevan’s tribute will add a deeply emotional and nationalistic note to the final showdown.
