'Thanks For Paying My Lawyer’s Fees': Samay Raina Jokes With Audience At Canada Show Amid India's Got Latent Controversy

Comedian Samay Raina recently addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding 'India’s Got Latent' during his stand-up show in Canada.

Comedian Samay Raina recently addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding 'India’s Got Latent' during his stand-up show in Canada. Despite being visibly affected by the situation, Raina managed to keep his audience entertained, blending humour with raw emotion. A fan, Shubham Dutta, took to Facebook to share his experience of the show, but later deleted his post. However, by then, it had already been widely circulated on social media.

What Samay Raina said during his show in Canada

In his post, Dutta painted a striking picture of Raina’s state of mind, writing, "For the first time, I saw a 25-year-old guy, weighed down by immense mental pressure, dark circles under his eyes, a sunken face, and unkempt hair, walk onto the stage in a dust-covered black hoodie. His first words into the mic? ‘Thanks for paying my lawyer’s fees.’"

He further described the audience’s overwhelming support for the comedian: "For the first time, I saw about seven hundred so-called 'degenerate' members of today’s generation cheering for him, while he stood there, tears in his eyes, just before starting his set."

Raina didn’t shy away from the controversy, instead incorporating it into his performance with his trademark wit. At one point, he quipped, "Iss show pe bahut mauka ayega, jahan aapko lag sakta hai ki main bahot funny kuch bol sakta hoon, par tab Beerbiceps ko yaad kar lena bhai (There will be many moments in this show where you might think I could say something really funny, but in those moments, just remember BeerBiceps, brother)."

He concluded his set by saying, "Shayad samay kharab chal raha hai mera, par yaad rakhna doston, main samay hoon (Maybe my time is bad right now, but remember, my friends—I am the time)."

Samay Raina to get summoned for the second time

Meanwhile, Comedian Samay Raina will receive a second summons from the Maharashtra Cyber Cell today. The authorities are seeking to record his statement as part of the ongoing investigation.

Previously, Raina was summoned to appear before the Maharashtra Cyber Cell on February 18 to provide his statement. However, he failed to appear on the given date.

As a result, the Maharashtra Cyber Department has decided to issue another summons today, requiring Raina’s presence for further inquiry into the matter.

It all started when Ranveer Allahbadia’s comment on Samay’s show sparked outrage online. The comment quickly went viral, leading to multiple FIRs being filed against both Samay and Ranveer. In response to the backlash, Samay removed all episodes of India’s Got Latent from his YouTube channel.
