Rekha Responds to Kapil Sharma’s Amitabh Bachchan Mimicry From KBC Episode: 'Ek Ek Dialogue Yaad Hai'

Veteran actor Rekha recently charmed audiences with her wit and nostalgia during an appearance on 'The Great Indian Kapil Show'. She shared her admiration for Amitabh Bachchan’s quiz show KBC.

Veteran actor Rekha recently charmed audiences with her wit and nostalgia during an appearance on 'The Great Indian Kapil Show'. The evergreen star shared her admiration for Amitabh Bachchan’s quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), sharing that she remembers every line from the iconic show.

What Rekha said about KBC, Amitabh Bachchan

During the conversation, host Kapil Sharma recalled his own experience on KBC as a guest, saying, “While we were playing KBC with Bachchan sahab, my mother was seated in the front row.” Kapil then imitated Amitabh’s distinctive voice and added, “He asked her, ‘Devi ji, kya kha ke paida kiya (What did you eat before giving birth to him)?’”

Before Kapil could finish the story, Rekha jumped in with her characteristic flair and shared his mother’s response, “Daal-roti.” Kapil confirmed her recollection, to which Rekha playfully remarked, “Mujhse puchiye na, ek ek dialogue yaad hai (Ask me, I remember each and every line of dialogue).”

Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan

Rekha’s connection to Amitabh Bachchan goes beyond KBC. The two starred in nine films together during the 1970s and 1980s, delivering several memorable performances. Their on-screen chemistry fueled rumors of an off-screen romance, despite Amitabh being married to Jaya Bachchan. Although the alleged affair reportedly ended in the early 1980s, the trio’s collaboration in Yash Chopra’s Silsila remains one of Bollywood’s most talked-about moments, often referred to as the "casting coup of the century."

About KBC

Kaun Banega Crorepati, the Indian adaptation of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, has been a cultural phenomenon for over two decades. Hosted by Amitabh Bachchan since its debut—except for a brief stint in season 2 when Shah Rukh Khan took over—the show is currently in its 16th season and continues to air on Sony TV.
