'Write A Letter To Luv Ranjan': Boney Kapoor On Why His Screen Time Was Less In 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar'
Boney Kapoor says he wasn't ready to act, but his kids Janhvi, Khushi, Anshula, and Arjun pushed him to give it a try.
New Delhi: This year's love comedy ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’, starring Ranbir and Shraddha Kapoor, marked Boney Kapoor's acting debut. Boney Kapoor portrayed Ranbir Kapoor's Punjabi father in the film directed by Luv Ranjan. Recently, in an interview, Boney was asked about his role in TJMM. He admitted that he wasn't prepared to act, but that his children Janhvi, Khushi, Anshula, and Arjun had encouraged him to try acting. Boney Kapoor said he hadn't seen the movie either.
Boney Kapoor credits his children as his greatest support. He told Hindustan Times, “They (his children) only pushed me to try acting and said, ‘Papa yeh karna hi hoga’. Unn logon ki wajah se hi mai ghus pada acting mein and kar lia (They said, ‘Papa, you have to do this.’ I entered into acting because of them).”.
He added, “I’m their father, and also their mother. I play all the roles for them. We share jokes, talk about serious things… basically, we can talk about anything under the sun with each other.”
When questioned about his lack of dialogues and screen time in the film, Kapoor said, "Dialogues ya scenes kam kyun the, yeh toh aap director ko poochiye (Ask the director why my dialogues or scenes were less in the film). Write a letter to Luv Ranjan and ask, 'Aapne itne achhe artist ko waste kaise kar diya? (Why did you waste such a good artist). But, mujhe toh mazaa aaya karke (But, I really enjoyed doing it), it was a good and happy unit."
TJMM was quite successful at the box office. Boney also revealed that he hasn't seen the movie due to "nervousness".
Meanwhile, Khushi Kapoor, the younger daughter of Boney Kapoor, will make her acting debut in the upcoming Netflix original ‘The Archies’.
