Addressing the uproar, Khanna wrote, “It is disappointing that a well-known YouTuber like Ranveer Allahbadia made such a disgusting statement on a platform like India’s Got Latent. The reference to parents and sex has understandably enraged the entire nation. This misuse of the freedom of expression by today’s youth is concerning. This isn’t the first time someone has crossed the line. Such offenses must be taken seriously, and those responsible should face strict consequences to deter similar behavior in the future.”
Khanna also suggested an old-fashioned punishment for such individuals, stating, “I have a punishment for such people – Kala muh karke gadhe par bitha kar unhe seher mein ghumao (Blacken their face, make them sit on a donkey, and parade them across the city). Next time, no one will dare to do this".
Ranveer Allahbadia's comment and apology
The controversy erupted after a clip from India’s Got Latent went viral, showing Allahbadia posing an inappropriate question to a contestant. He asked, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”
This drew widespread backlash from viewers and social media users, who called it distasteful and offensive. The remark has been widely condemned for lacking sensitivity and decency.
Following the outrage, Allahbadia issued a public apology via a video message. Acknowledging his mistake, he stated, “I shouldn’t have said what I said on India’s Got Latent. I’m sorry. My comment was inappropriate and not even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I’m just here to say sorry. Many have questioned if this is how I want to use my platform, and obviously, this is not my intention. I am not here to offer context, justification, or reasoning—just an apology.”
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Cyber Police has lodged an FIR over the ongoing controversy surrounding the show. The case has been registered against comedian Samay Raina, show producer Balraj Ghai, and several others.
