Manoj Kumar death: Veteran actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar, who earned the title of 'Bharat Kumar' for his deeply patriotic roles in Indian cinema, was cremated with full state honours on Saturday in Mumbai. The 87-year-old icon passed away on Friday due to age-related ailments at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.

A solemn farewell took place at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu, where a three-gun salute was offered as part of the final tribute to the legendary star. His sons, Vishal and Kunal, performed the last rites around 11:30 am, lighting the funeral pyre as family, friends, and admirers bid goodbye.

Prominent members from the film industry gathered to pay their respects, including Amitabh Bachchan and Salim Khan. Others present at the cremation included Abhishek Bachchan, Arbaaz Khan, Subhash Ghai, Anu Malik, Zayed Khan, Prem Chopra, and Rajpal Yadav.
Earlier in the day, an ambulance adorned with flowers in the colours of the Indian flag departed from Kumar’s residence around 10:30 am. His mortal remains were draped in the national tricolour, honouring the man whose on-screen legacy celebrated the spirit of India.
A large photo of a young Manoj Kumar was placed at the entrance of his building, allowing fans and well-wishers to offer their final respects.
Following the news of his demise, several noted personalities, including Dharmendra, Prem Chopra, Madhur Bhandarkar, Farah Khan, and Sajid Khan, visited the late actor’s home to extend their condolences.

Kumar rose to fame through a string of patriotic hits that earned him a special place in the hearts of the Indian audience. Films like Shaheed, Upkar, Purab Aur Paschim, and Roti, Kapda Aur Makaan not only cemented his identity as 'Bharat Kumar' but also left a lasting impact on Indian cinema.
Born Harikrishan Goswami in Abbottabad—then part of undivided India—his family moved to Delhi after Partition in 1947. He later graduated from Hindu College, Delhi University, before heading to Mumbai to chase his dreams in the film industry.

Manoj Kumar is survived by his wife Shashi and their two sons.
