Mahima Chaudhry Says Her Cameo In Salman Khan's 'Tere Naam' Happened Because She Couldn’t Say 'No' To Satish Kaushik
Salman Khan's 'Tere Naam' album featured the popular song 'O Jaana', which included a memorable cameo by Mahima Chaudhry.
New Delhi: Salman Khan's portrayal in the 2003 smash hit 'Tere Naam' is still widely regarded as one of his most famous roles, while the cameo appearance by Mahima Chaudhry in 'O Jaana' is unforgettable. Mahima Chaudhry recently told an interesting story regarding her cameo in Salman Khan's ‘Tere Naam’ in an interview with Bollywood Bubble. The film directed by the late Satish Kaushik contained popular songs like ‘Tere Naam’, ‘O Jaana’, and ‘Kyun Kisi Ko’.
After a near-fatal accident on the sets of ‘Dil Kya Kare’ (1999), Mahima Chaudhry was trying to re-establish herself in the industry when she decided at the last minute to be in the song 'O Jaana'. For the uninitiated, the actress's face was severely injured in the accident; more than sixty-seven glass pieces wound up her face.
Talking about her cameo in ‘Tere Naam’, Mahima shared, “I was not originally supposed to be in this film. After my accident, I wanted to re-enter the industry, so I started taking on songs and guest appearances to remind audiences I was still around. Interestingly, every film I did ended up being a major hit, which led to more offers for similar roles. It became a challenge for me — I thought, ‘If this keeps happening, how will I return to being a leading lady?’”
Mahima reflected on the unexpected way Satish Kaushik offered her a special appearance opposite Salman Khan. “Around that time, Satish Kaushik and the team were filming a song sequence in Hyderabad and needed a female lead to dance opposite Salman. They didn’t know who to cast and then Satish called me. I couldn’t say no. When I asked about my costume, he told me to wear my own jeans. So, everything you see in the song, outfits and accessories, was mine,” she said.
