Jaya Bachchan Recalls Supporting Amitabh Bachchan During 90s: 'Silently Standing & Saying...'

New Delhi: Jaya Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan, and Navya Naveli Nanda, the three women of the Bachchan family, discussed how to deal with setbacks and overcome obstacles in a recent episode of their podcast, ‘What The Hell Navya’. Jaya revealed during the talk the difficult time her husband, the renowned actor Amitabh Bachchan, went through in the early 1990s.

As they considered their experiences with hardship, Jaya underlined the value of discreetly helping those you love when things are hard. The actress recalled how she supported Amitabh through a difficult period in his career. She stated, “We went through different kind of failures in different phases of my life. When a man is going through a tough phase, it’s nice to just be there and be quiet for them. It’s nice to be silently standing there and saying listen I am here for you.”
Meanwhile, Shweta intervened and said, “I don’t agree. Sometimes all a man needs is some idea. I would like to play a more proactive role.”
When his company filed for bankruptcy in the 1990s, Amitabh Bachchan was left with a mountain of debt, which presented serious issues. During an interview with Vir Sanghvi, Bachchan was rather open about how bad things had become and that all of his possessions had been attached because of unpaid debts that were estimated to be worth about Rs 90 crore.
In the interview, Big B had said, “There were creditors on the door everyday, very embarrassing, very humiliating.”
When filmmaker Yash Chopra offered Amitabh a role in ‘Mohabbatein’, his career took a turn for the better. ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, a television programme, was also crucial in reviving his career.

On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan was last seen in 'Ghoomer' in a cameo and in 'Uunchai' and 'Goodbye'. The veteran star still has many projects in the pipeline.
Among them, 'Kalki 2898 AD', is the most awaited project.
