‘I Read Words Like Buddha-Khoosat And Many More Derogatory Words': Ashish Vidyarthi On Being Trolled For Marrying At 57
Ashish Vidyarthi said that he saw some nasty remarks about his second marriage on social media.
New Delhi: Ashish Vidyarthi made headlines when he revealed a major change in his private life. The well-known Indian actor married fashion entrepreneur Rupali Barua in an intimate setting in Kolkata. He married Rupali at the age of 57. Their images as a newlywed couple quickly became viral online. But not everyone shared in their joy. Ashish Vidyarthi, in a recent interview, spoke openly about the backlash he received for getting remarried so late in life. He said that people should encourage one another rather than criticise.
Cruel trolls attacked Ashish Vidyarthi for his second marriage. In a recent interview, the actor discussed the same topic at length.
Ashish told India Today that he saw some nasty remarks about his second marriage on social media. He spoke out over the label of "bhudha khoosat," saying, "I read words like ‘buddha-khoosat (old and decrepit)’ and many more derogatory words. What is interesting is that it is a comment that each one of us, whoever is saying that, we are passing on others who are older than us, and at the same time, we are giving that fear to ourselves, because each one of us, hopefully, will become old." He further added, "We are telling ourselves, ‘Hey, listen, don't do things just because you're old.’ So, does that mean you're supposed to die unhappy? If somebody wants companionship, why should he not?"
Ashish emphasised that he is a law-abiding citizen, paying his taxes and working hard, and has made the personal decision to be legally married to a partner. The actor said, "It's a thing in which each one of us should actually be supporting each other rather than puncturing somebody else. That is something I did not expect and was shocked because throughout my life I have added value."
Ashish's next film project is Vishal Bhardwaj's ‘Khufiya’.
