Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Hypocrisy’ To Sushmita Sen’s ‘Affairs With Married Men’, Redditors Reveal Why They Turned Against Their Favorite Stars

A Reddit post asked about a Bollywood star that people used to like but now despise terribly.

Social media has greatly reduced the mystery and boundaries between fans and their favourite superstars, even as it has pulled them closer to one another. Fans have the chance to find out about celebrities' opinions, fitness regimens, and personal lives through their social media presence. They run the risk of facing harsh criticism, which will damage the impression that their on-screen character has given them.

Bollywood actors are overexposed to their fans, who constantly form opinions about these celebrities based not just on the roles they play but also on their personal lives. A Reddit post asked about a Bollywood star that people used to like but now despise terribly. Numerous actors from Hindi cinema, including Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, were mentioned in the thread.

Mentioning Amitabh Bacchan, an user said, “I don't greatly dislike him now but I did greatly admire him earlier and now I just dislike him for his hypocrisy. Sorry Amitabh sir... No doubt you are a national treasure, a good actor, a great star and a well read & learned man but morally I doubt you are as good as you present yourself to be and this sub helped minus many doubts.”

Another user said, “Ajay Devgn. There is no stopping him propagating the Gutka now. He is the face of Gutka in India. That is so irresponsible. I know there is a difference between art and artist; but somehow, i am unable to differentiate.”

A Redditor also mentioned Shah Rukh Khan’s Vimal ad and wrote, “Aur srk ki toh aisi naubat nhi ayi thi, if you want to call yourself the last of the stars then you should act like one. Doesn't he know the impact of doing such ads on the gen uneducated public. I recently saw a reel in which some teens from rural areas were having ghutka and when reporters told them about the consequences of that they replied something like ‘srk bhi khta h usse toh kuch nhi hua’.”
