Aamir Khan Shares Thoughts On Working With Ex-Wife Kiran Rao, 'Yeh Meri Khushnaseebi Hai'

Aamir Khan has talked about his post-divorce collaborations with producer, screenwriter, and director Kiran Rao.

New Delhi: Aamir Khan has talked about his post-divorce collaborations with producer, screenwriter, and director Kiran Rao. In an interview with News18 India, Aamir made fun of the idea that a doctor might advise a divorced couple to turn against one other. On the contrary, he expressed gratitude to Kiran Rao for entering his life and stated that they "will continue to move forward together."

Talking about working with ex-wife Kiran Rao post divorce, Aamir said, "Yeh koi doctor ne kaha hai ke divorce ho jata hai toh aap foran dushman ho jaate hai? Yeh meri khushnaseebi hai ke mere zindagi mein Kiran aayi aur humara safar bahut hee fulfilling raha mere liye. Bahut kuch banaya humne saath mein, personally and professionally aur agge bhi hum saath mein hee hai (Has a doctor said that when a divorce happens, you immediately become enemies? I consider myself fortunate that Kiran came into my life, and our journey has been very fulfilling for me. We have created a lot together, both personally and professionally, and we will continue to move forward together).."

He added further, "Hum insaani aur jaazbaati taur pe jude huye hai aur humesha rahenge. We are like a family. Unka jo mind hai, intelligence hai… do chaar dafa daant bhi deti hai, woh bhi maza aata hai (We are connected on a human and emotional level, and we will always be. We are like a family. Her mind, intelligence… even when she scolds me a couple of times, it’s fun).”

Aamir and Kiran got married in 2005. The couple welcomed their son Azad Rao Khan in 2011 and got divorced later in 2021. As an assistant director in Lagaan, Kiran began her profession. Under Aamir Khan Productions, she wrote the screenplay and directed Dhobi Ghat, which released in January 2011.

On March 1, Kiran's film, Laapataa Ladies, is scheduled to release in theatres. The plot revolves around two young brides who get lost on a train in rural India in 2001, as well as a group of people who are sucked into a series of riddles while travelling. Sparsh Shrivastav, Nitanshi Goel, and Pratibha Ranta all play significant roles in the movie. Aamir Khan and Jyoti Deshpande are the producers of Laapataa Ladies, which is helmed by Kiran Rao.
