Box Office: Tiger Shroff Starrer 'Heropanti 2' Outnumbers Ajay Devgn's 'Runway 34' With 7 Cr On Opening Day
Touted as one of the biggest action thrillers of the year, 'Heropanti 2' has failed to make its mark at the box office, with a very cold opening.
New Delhi: Bollywood movies and actors seem to be going through a tumultous time, given the meagre box office collection of the recently released bollywood films. The latest to join the race is Tiger Shroff starrer 'Heropanti 2'. Touted as one of the biggest action thrillers of the year, the film has failed to make its mark at the box office, with a very cold opening.
The action drama collected only Rs. 6.25 Crore on the opening day, owing to the fall in conventional Hindi film audience by 80 per cent. Tiger Shroff's film, which comes as a Eid release, needs good reviews and promotion in order to lure the audience to theatres during the holidays.
Released with 'Heropanti 2' is Ajay Devgn's directorial venture 'Runway 34', that has a gripping storyline but received a very lukewarm response at the box office, making only Rs 3 crore on the opening day, as reported by Boxofficeindia.
Interestingly, 'Heropanti 2' elbowed out 'Runway 34' at the box office by double the numbers, despite the film starring industry heavyweights, which speaks volumes for the kind of popularity it has amoung the masses.
Ruling the theatres is Yash starrer 'KGF: Chapter 2', that released on April 14. Also going strong at the box office is SS Rajamouli's magnum opus pan-India film, 'RRR', that has shattered all records with its huge box-office collection worldwide, crossing the 1000cr mark.
According to movie critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, even the weakest of Salman Khan's films, who is known for his Eid releases, did better at the box office than 'Heropanti 2' and 'Runway 34'.
He tweeted, "Till 2019, #Eid was synonymous with #SalmanKhan films... Even his weak films would start on a thunderous note... The pre-#Eid releases this year [#Runway34 and #Heropanti2] narrate a different story... Data of #SalmanKhan films released during #Eid celebrations... #Salmania"

Making their way as Eid releases this year, let's see if 'Heropanti 2' and 'Runway 34' are able to gross numbers at the box office, during the weekend.
