Tripura Bypolls: BJP Wins Dhanpur, Boxanagar Assembly Seats By Massive Margins

Tripura Bypolls Results: BJP has bagged both assembly seats of Dhanpur and Boxanagr that underwent bypolls on September 5.

Tripura Bypoll Results 2023: Bharatiya Janta party (BJP) has won the bypolls in Tripura from both Dhanpur and Boxanagar assembly seats by massive margins, according to the data of the Election Commission of India (ECI). The saffron party's candidate from Boxanagr, Tafajjal Hossain bagged the seat with a margin of over 30,000 votes. Hossain got 34,146 votes while distant second and CPI(M) candidate Mizan Hossain could manage only 3,909 votes.

In Dhanpur, BJP's Bindu Debnath received 30,017 votes while CPI(M)'s Kaushik Chanda got 11,146 votes. Notably, voting for byelections to seven assembly seats in six states took place on September 5 and BJP has claimed both seats from Tripura. The counting for the remaining five seats in five states is underway.

Notably, the polling in the Boxanagar constituency was necessitated due to the death of CPI(M) MLA Samsul Haque. Whereas, Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik's resignation as the MLA of Dhanpur necessitated the byelection on this seat.

Current Trends As Per ECI

As of now, early trends show the Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate is leading from Uttar Pradesh's Ghosi seat. Notably, SP candidate Sudhakar Singh is being supported by the opposition's I.N.D.I.A bloc which is the first direct fight since the formation of the bloc against the BJP. Singh is ahead of BJP's Dara Singh Chauhan from Ghosi by 8,557 votes after six rounds of counting.

Meanwhile, in Jharkhand's Dumri, Jharkhand Mukti Mocha's (JMM) Bebi Devi is leading the trend by 670 votes and All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) candidate Yashoda Devi is trailing behind.

In Kerala's Puthuppally, UDF's Congress Candidate Chandy Oommen has gained a massive lead of over 25,000 votes after nine rounds of counting.

However, in Uttarakhand's Bageshwar, BJP's Parwati Dass is ahead of Congress candidate Basant Kumar by 1,542 votes. The numbers have started coming from West Bengal's Dhupguri where BJP's Tapasi Roy is leading after one round of counting by 1,571 votes against her closest rival and TMC candidate Nirmal Chandra Roy.
