'Their Eyes On Cheeks Of Women': Alka Lamba Attacks BJP Over Ramesh Bidhuri's Remarks

Congress leader Alka Lamba, who is contesting from Delhi's Kalkaji, said her fight is against Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, who is also fighting from the seat.

Congress leader Alka Lamba on Wednesday took a jibe at BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri, saying the BJP leaders have focus on the 'eyes and cheeks of women' rather than development and roads.

Alka Lamba, who is contesting from Delhi's Kalkaji, said her fight is against Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, who is also fighting from the seat.

Speaking on Ramesh Bidhuri's recent comments against Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi and CM Atishi, Alka Lamba said, "They should talk on development. But more than development and roads, your eyes are on the cheeks of women. They say that they will make roads like cheeks. What time of statement is this? Ask anybody in Kalkaji if they would support such statements."

The Congress leader was referring to Ramesh Bidhuri who stirred controversy on Sunday after he said that he would make the roads of his Assembly constituency as smooth as Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's cheeks if his party wins.

"Lalu Yadav once famously claimed that he would make the roads of Bihar as smooth as Hema Malini's cheeks, but he failed to deliver on that promise. I assure you, however, that just as we have transformed the roads in Okhla and Sangam Vihar, we will ensure that every road in Kalkaji is made as smooth as Priyanka Gandhi's cheeks," Ramesh Bidhuri had said while addressing an event in Delhi. Shortly after the remark against Gandhi, the former BJP MP also took a personal jibe at Atishi's surname claiming that "she changed her father."

Alka Lamba said that the BJP had to apologise after the remark and went on to suggest that Bidhuri might be dropped as the party's candidate from Kalkaji.

"There was a pressure on the BJP. They had to apologise. But he commented on the CM of Delhi yet again. There is anger among the people. I appreciate the women workers of BJP who pressured the party that if Ramesh Bidhuri says such things, they will not support him. Maybe Ramesh Bidhuri's ticket will be withdrawn today. If this happens, it will be our first victory," Alka Lamba said.

She also said that there is anger in the people against the BJP and added that the party should talk about development.

Attacking Kejriwal over 'temporary CM' remark on Atishi, she said, "Arvind Kejriwal insulted a constitutional position by calling Atishi a temporary CM. Atishi, why are you silent? You should speak. This is an insult and you have to speak."

Alka Lamba is locked in a triangular fight in the Kalkaji Assembly constituency against BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri and AAP's Atishi.
