'Of Every 1 Rupee, Only 15 Paise Reached Destination': PM Modi Tears Into Congress Over Graft Charges At Maha Rally

While addressing a crowd in Maharashtra, PM Modi said that there was a chaos in the country before 2014 and recalled his “chai pe charcha” event in this Maharashtra district during the 2014 campaign.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the BJP-led NDA alliance will cross 400 seats this time and added the next five years will see rapid development in the country.

Weeks ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, PM Modi repeated his slogan of ‘Abki baar NDA sarkar 400 paar’ and said the country has decided to give the BJP-led alliance a bigger majority that what it secured in the 2019 polls.

While addressing a crowd in Yavatmal, Maharashtra, PM Modi said that there was a chaos in the country before 2014 and recalled his “chai pe charcha” event in this Maharashtra district during the 2014 campaign.

"I bow down to the land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. I also bow down to Baba Saheb Ambedkar... When, 10 years ago, I came to Yavatmal for 'Chai pe Charcha', you blessed us. The people of India made NDA cross 300. In 2019 also, we crossed 350... Women from all sections have come here to bless us," the prime minister said.

Attacking Congress on corruption, PM Modi said that the previous government led by Congress didn't cared about poor, but the BJP government is providing water through pipeline connection.

"Before 2014, there was chaos in the villages of the country. But the then government of the INDI alliance did not care about it. From Independence to 2014, in villages of the country, only 15 out of 100 families received water through a pipe... To end this, I gave a guarantee of 'Har Ghar Jal'," PM Modi said adding that now 75 out of 100 rural families get water through pipes.

He attacked the Congress led-government during 10-year UPA rule by saying that out of every one rupee, only 15 paise reached the destination.

"When there was the Congress government in the center, one rupee was released from Delhi and 15 paise reached the destination. If it had been the Congress government right now, the Rs 21,000 crores which you have received today, Rs 18,000 crores of it would have been looted in the middle," he further said.

"When the INDI Alliance was in power in the center, what was the situation?... Packages used to be announced for the farmers of Vidarbha from Delhi, but they were looted in the middle. Poor, farmers and the Adivasis did not get anything. Today, I pressed one button, and Rs. 21,000 crores of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi reached the accounts of crores of farmers. This is Modi's guarantee," he added.

Earlier today, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects, including a new launch complex of ISRO, totally worth about Rs 17,300 crore in Tamil Nadu.

The ISRO complex at Kulasekarapattinam near Thoothukudi, is worth about Rs 986 crore and the facility is set to accommodate 24 launches per year.

Modi castigated the earlier UPA regime for not being 'bothered about' about Tamil Nadu's progress. In a fierce attack on the DMK, he alleged the Tamil Nadu's ruling Dravidian party not does not cooperate with Centre on its welfare schemes. The DMK took credit for the work done by the BJP-regime at the Centre, he claimed.
