Mizoram Election: CM Zoramthanga To Contest From Aizawl East — Check Complete MNF Candidates List

Mizoram Chief Minister and MNF President Zoramthanga will run from Aizawl East - I, a seat he won in the 2018 assembly elections, while Deputy Chief Minister Tawnluia will run from Tuichang.

The ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) has revealed the names of candidates who would run for the 40 Assembly seats that will be up for the upcoming assembly election. The candidate list for this assembly election includes two women and 15 fresh faces. The MNF will participate in all 40 seats. The Chief Minister and MNF President, Zoramthanga, will run from Aizawl East - I, a seat he won in the 2018 assembly elections, while Deputy Chief Minister Tawnluia will run from Tuichang. Lalchamliana, the Home Minister, and Assembly Speaker Lalrinliana Sailo have opted not to contest in the elections. Power Minister R. Lalzirliana and Tourism Minister Robert Romawia Royte have both changed constituencies.

The names of the candidates were revealed during a ceremony in Aizawl attended by hundreds of party workers from Aizawl and the neighbouring districts.

CM Zoramthanga has also begun his campaign for re-election. Lalchamliana announced his decision not to participate in the elections, citing the need to make room for the next generation, while the party sacked Sailo. 

Dr. K. Beichhua, a former Minister of State, was expelled from the party for 'anti-party behaviour,' and he is anticipated to run as a BJP candidate from his Siaha seat.
