The process of registering nominations for the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections next month began on Saturday with the release of notice for the polls, according to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer.
Assembly elections in the state controlled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be contested in a single phase on November 17, with results announced on December 3. Nominations for the 230-member state legislature can be registered from October 21 to October 30, with the vetting taking place on October 31, according to authorities.
Candidates have until November 2 to withdraw their nominations.
This election, around 5.60 crore electors in the state are eligible to vote.
According to poll authorities, of the total 5,60,60,925 voters, 2,88,25,607 are male, 2,72,33,945 are female, and 1,373 are of the third gender.
They reported that the overall number of service voters in the centrally situated state was 75,303, with 73,020 males and 2,284 women, for a total of 5,61,36,229 votes.
The total number of senior citizens voting was 6,53,640. There are 5,05,146 'divyang' voters, with 99 NRI voters.
According to authorities, the Sailana constituency in Ratlam district had the highest turnout of 89.13 percent in the 2018 assembly elections, while the Jobat segment in Alirajpur district had the lowest turnout of 52.84 percent.
The Lakhnadoun assembly seat in Seoni district has the most voting stations (407), while the Indore-3 assembly constituency has the fewest (193), according to authorities.
The Congress has nominated candidates for 229 seats, while the ruling BJP has announced candidates for 136 seats. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Samajwadi Party (SP), and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are also running.
The Congress won 114 seats in the 230-member House in the 2018 MP assembly elections, while the BJP won 109.
