TMC MLA Tapas Roy Quits Party Ahead Of Polls, Wasn't Happy With Handling Of Sandeshkhali
TMC MLA Tapas Roy has resigned from the party in a major blow to the Mamata Banerjee-led organisation ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
In a setback to TMC, Baranagar MLA Tapas Roy has tendered his resignation from the post of the MLA and the party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. Earlier in the day, the MLA reportedly expressed his displeasure over the functioning of the party and the handling of the Sandeshkhali issue, dropping hints at quitting the organisation.
"I am really disappointed with the way the party is functioning. I am fed up with so many allegations of corruption levelled against the party and the government. Secondly, I do not support the way the Sandeshkhali issue was handled," he told reporters.
Top leaders of the party such as Kunal Ghosh and Bratya Basu reportedly met the disgruntled leader at his residence to pacify him, but in vain.
Roy has also been at loggerheads with TMC's North Kolkata MP Sudip Bandopadhyay.
"I have been a loyal soldier of the party for the last 25 years. But I did not get my due," he said.
