Lok Sabha Elections 2019: As the season of elections has arrived and the nation is moving towards a new government term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a unique ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ (I too am watchman) campaign for 2019 Lok Sabha elections. PM Modi took to Twitter and shared a video which goes to show how all Indians are Chowkidars (Watchman), kick-starting Bharatiya Janata Party’s campaign for the elections. PM Modi urged his supporters to take the 'Main Bhi Chowkidar' pledge, saying he is not alone in the fight against graft and social evils. "Your Chowkidar is standing firm & serving the nation. But, I am not alone. Everyone who is fighting corruption, dirt, social evils is a Chowkidar. Everyone working hard for the progress of India is a Chowkidar. Today, every Indian is saying-#MainBhiChowkidar, PM Modi captioned the video. The Prime Minister, who is about to end his first term in May this year, shared a three-minute video to drive home his message. PM Modi has often described himself as a "chowkidar" who would neither allow corruption nor getting corrupt himself. Watch the video here: The campaign started by the ruling party will further boost the narrative of portraying PM Modi’s name for the next Prime Minister as several surveys have said that it can be a main factor in the upcoming general elections. As a part of this campaign, PM Modi will also speak to people from across the country on March 31. Congress president Rahul Gandhi has been repeatedly hurling the ‘chowkidar chor hai’(watchman is the thief) jibe at PM Modi alleging irregularities and favouritism in the Rafale fighter jet deal, a charge the BJP-led government has rejected. The Election Commission of India, earlier this week, announced the dates for 17 Lok Sabha Elections in the country starting April 11 and ends on May 19. Divided into seven phases all together, the counting of votes will be done on May 24.
