'Threatened And Abused By The Corrupt': PM Modi Attacks Oppn At Rally In Uttarakhand's Rudrapur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a poll rally in Uttarakhand's Rudrapur ahead of Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday attacked the opposition saying that the corrupt are threatening and abusing him. Addressing a public meeting in Uttarakhand's Rudrapur, Modi said should not the corrupt go to jail, adding that against them will continue.

"We say 'Bhrashtachaar hatao'. But they say 'Bhrashtachaari ko bachao'," Modi said.

"Corrupt are threatening, abusing me. Shouldn't the corrupt go to jail; action against them will continue: "Only a few months are left for our third term to begin and in this third term there will be even bigger action against corruption....," he added.

Modi's comments came amid opposition onslaught against the ruling party in the wake of arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Jharkhand CM and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Hemant Soren.

Talking about development, Modi said, "This election campaign is happening at a place also known as ‘Mini India’. I feel good whenever I come here. BJP’s love towards Uttarakhand is obvious. We need to develop Uttarakhand and take it to the forefront and therefore, the central government is doing everything to make this possible."

"The development that has happened here in Uttarakhand in the last 10 years, didn’t even happen after so many years of Independence,” he added.

Reiterating his promise of making India world's "third-largest economic power", he said, "People’s income will increase, they will get employment opportunities, and facilities will improve."

"I earlier said that the AIIMS satellite centre would be built here, and I fulfilled this guarantee. I said that this decade will be the decade of Uttarakhand. Therefore, every vote of yours on ‘Lotus’, will strengthen this resolution,” he added.
