BJP Slams Congress Over Inheritance Tax Row: 'Rahul Gandhi's Uncle Sam Planning To Gobble Up People's Wealth'
Lok Sabha Election 2024: BJP's Dinesh Sharma criticised the Congress for alleged inheritance tax plans, accusing "Rahul Gandhi's Uncle Sam" of planning to seize people's wealth.
BJP leader Dinesh Sharma took aim at the Congress party, particularly focusing on the inheritance tax issue, during a speech on Friday. Sharma, who is overseeing the BJP's campaign in Maharashtra, accused the Congress of attempting to seize people's wealth. According to news agency PTI, he stated, "Now its intentions are clear. Rahul Gandhi's Uncle Sam has come up with a new plan to gobble up people's wealth."
Sharma alleged that the Congress aims to redistribute wealth to a specific class and as he remarked, "A former prime minister of Congress has said that Muslims have the first right over the country's resources." The Congress has distanced itself from Sam Pitroda's views and asserted it had no plan to introduce such a tax.
Sharma, meanwhile, also accused the Congress of having no respect for the Constitution. "The party had suspended it in the past and imposed Emergency," he said, as per PTI.

PM Modi Criticises Congress Over Alleged Inheritance Tax
Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the discourse on Friday as he criticised the Congress for allegedly planning to introduce inheritance tax and accused them of wanting to confiscate people's wealth both during their lifetime and after their death.
As per PTI, he used the slogan "Congress ki loot, zindagi ke saath bhi zindagi ke baad bhi" to underscore his point, suggesting that the party aims to deprive people of their belongings in both life and death.
The Prime Minister also targeted specific leaders without directly naming them, referring to the "Shehzada (crown prince) of the Congress" and his "Guru" who, he claimed, do not want individuals to pass on their property to their children. Additionally, he accused the RJD of remaining silent on the Congress's alleged plans to track citizens' wealth and impose heavy taxes.
The Congress has also denied proposing a wealth redistribution in its manifesto as it became a focal point of political debate with the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi leveling allegations amid the ongoing Lok Sabha elections 2024.
