In Dabwali, Doesn't Matter Which Party Wins — A Chautala Will Enter The Haryana Assembly

Haryana Election Results In Dabwali: Dabwali constituency sees a three-way contest between Congress, JJP, and INLD. But irrespective of the winning party, a Chautala will be the victor.

The Dabwali constituency in northwestern Haryana's Sirsa is witnessing a three-way contest between the Congress, the Jannayak Janta Party, and the Indian National Lok Dal. However, what makes the contest interesting is the fact that irrespective of which party wins, former Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhary Devi Lal's legacy will live on from Dabwali through a Chautala.

The candidates of all three parties are from the Chautala clan. Amit Sihag who was in the lead by over 7,500 votes at  11:30 AM is from the Congress, Devi Lal's grandson Aditya Chautala, former BJP leader who was trailing behind Amit Sihag is from the INLD, and Ajay Chautala's son Digvijay Chautala is from the JJP.

Amit Sihag is distantly related to the Chautala family. He is the great-grandson son of Tara Chand, who was Chaudhary Devi Lal's uncle. His father is Congress leader Kamalveer Singh and his grandfather is Ganpat Ram.

How Does Dabwali Vote In Elections?

Dabwali voters have been Chautala supporters for a long time now — be it a Chautala or the INLD, founded by Devi Lal. In 2000 and 2005 INLD candidate Sita Ram won the Haryana assembly elections and since 2009, a member of the Chautala family has been on the seat.

The seat was won by Ajay Singh Chautala for the INLD in 2009. His wife Naina Chautala won the seat in 2014 on an INLD ticket. However, in 2019, Amit Sihag wrested the seat from INLD as Ajay broke away from the INLD and formed the Jannayak Janta Party along with his son Dushyant Chautala.

The Dabwali constituency recorded a voter turnout of 77.92%.
