'Congress Means Guarantee Of Corruption, Selfish Politics': PM Modi In Himachal's Solan

The polling for the Himachal Assembly elections will be held on November 12 and the counting of votes will be on December 8.

New Delhi: Stepping into the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) election campaign in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, launching an attack on the Congress, said "Congress means guarantee of corruption and selfish politics." He said that the hill state needs a government that would provide stability and during the rule of the grand old party, several groups had vested interest in an unstable government.

“During Congress rule, there were various groups that had a vested interest in unstable govts. Small states were the target of such self-centered groups. These groups worked only for their own interests,” news agency ANI quoted Modi as saying.

“Himachal Pradesh needs a BJP government that will provide stability to it. For 30 years there was instability in Delhi, governments came and went while thousands of crores of rupees were wasted in elections that happened repeatedly. In 2014 people voted for a stable government,” he said.

Notably, PM Modi was addressing a poll rally in Solan after Mandi.

Urging the voters to cast their votes for the saffron party, the Prime Minister said, “You need not remember the BJP candidate, only remember the symbol of 'Lotus' when you go to cast your vote. I've come to you with 'Lotus', wherever you see the symbol of 'Lotus' that means it's the BJP and that Modi ji has come to you.”

Taking a dig at the opposition over farmers’ issues, Modi said, “We have to bring urea from abroad, one sack of urea costs us Rs 2000 but we give it to our farmers for less than Rs 270. Our govt bears the rest of the expenses. Some people who give Rs 100 subsidy spend Rs 1000 for publishing advertisement regarding it.”

Notably, the polling for the Himachal Assembly elections will be held on November 12 and the counting of votes will be on December 8.
