Farooq Abdullah Opposes Son Omar's 'Wind Up INDIA Bloc' Remark: 'Should Remove Misconception'
Farooq Abdullah said that the INDIA alliance was not meant for the Lok Sabha Elections alone, but aimed at strengthening the country.
Hours after Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah questioned the future of the opposition INDIA bloc, the CM's father and National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah has opposed his views.
Farooq Abdullah said that the INDIA alliance was not meant for the Lok Sabha Elections alone, but aimed at strengthening the country.
Speaking to the reporters, the National conference said that those claiming the opposition bloc was formed for the Parliamentary elections only, "should come out of this misconception."

"The alliance was formed to strengthen the country and put an end to hatred within India," Abdullah said.
Abdullah's remark comes shortly after INDIA bloc leaders, including Tejashwi Yadav and Omar Abdullah, who said that the bloc was limited to the Lok Sabha elections.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav said that the opposition bloc was for Lok Sabha elections and added that it for natural for the Congress and AAP to have conflicts.
"It is not unusual. In Lok Sabha election the main motto was to defeat BJP in election and the alliance of INDIA bloc was limited upto that motto. In such a situation, it is not unnatural for the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party to have conflicts," Tejashwi Yadav said.
Responding to Yadav's remark, Omar Abdullah said there is no clarity on agenda and leadership in the alliance.

"There is no INDIA bloc meeting being held. It would be nice if a meeting would be called so that we can get clarity. If the alliance was only for Parliamentary elections then we should wind up this, otherwise, if it’s for the Assembly elections as well then we need to work together," he said.
The remark comes in the backdrop of the verbal attack between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party ahead of Delhi Elections next month. The two parties, constituent of the INDIA alliance, are contesting the Delhi polls in a triangular fight, along with the BJP.
Several INDIA alliance parties, including the Smajwadi Party and TMC, have supported AAP in Delhi. The 70-member Delhi Assembly will go to polls on February 5. The results will be out on February 8.
