'No Announcements Made': EC Debunks 'Fake' WhatsApp Message On LS Polls Dates
The Election Commission clarified that the official schedule of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced through a formal press conference.
The Election Commission debunked a fake message circulating on WhatsApp on Saturday regarding the schedule of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. According to the fake message, the voting is scheduled to take place on April 19, and votes will be counted on May 22. No official announcements have been made by the poll body pertaining to the upcoming polls.
The EC further clarified that the official schedule of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced through a formal press conference.

The Election Commission is likely to announce the dates for upcoming general elections after March 13. The central poll body has been visiting several states to take stock of the preparations for the LS polls, and once it is done, the dates will be announced, India Today reported on Friday, citing Election Commission sources.
Meanwhile, the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) finalised a seat-sharing deal for the upcoming polls in Goa, Goa AAP President Amit Palekar said on Saturday, as reported by news agency ANI. He stated, "Our national leaders of the I.N.D.I.A Bloc alliance, Kejriwal Ji, Sandeep Pathak, along with the Congress, decided that both the seats in Goa, with consensus from the local leadership, will be contested by the Congress party. We have agreed to contest these seats as part of the I.N.D.I.A Bloc alliance".
