Delhi Exit Polls Predict Another Blank For Congress As BJP, AAP Locked In Tight Race

Delhi Election 2025: Exit polls predict varied performance for BJP and AAP, with BJP leading in several polls. However, Congress is projected to fare poorly by all agencies.

Delhi Election 2025: While exit polls have offered differing predictions for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Delhi Assembly elections, they all remain consistent on one point—the Congress is expected to perform poorly, securing zero to a maximum of two seats. The official results will be announced by the Election Commission after the counting of votes on February 8.

Exit polls, which are based on voter interviews conducted immediately after polling, often diverge from the actual outcome. However, across various agencies, there is near unanimity that the Congress will once again fail to make any significant impact in Delhi.

According to the Matrize exit poll, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is projected to secure between 35 and 40 seats, while the AAP is expected to win 32 to 37 seats. The Congress is predicted to get only 0 to 1 seat. The People's Pulse exit poll gave the NDA a larger margin, estimating 51 to 60 seats, with the AAP getting just 10 to 19 seats and the Congress drawing a blank.

People’s Insight exit poll projected 40 to 44 seats for the BJP, 25 to 29 seats for the AAP, and 0 to 1 for the Congress. The P-Marq exit poll forecasted 39 to 49 seats for the BJP, 21 to 31 for AAP, and 0 to 1 for Congress. The JVC exit poll suggested a similar trend, predicting 39 to 45 seats for the BJP, 22 to 31 for the AAP, and 0 to 2 for Congress.

A broader poll of polls confirms that while projections for the BJP and AAP vary, the Congress remains firmly at the bottom, struggling to cross even two seats.

In the outgoing Delhi Assembly, AAP holds 62 seats, the BJP has eight, and the Congress has none. The majority mark in the 70-member House is 36. The Delhi Assembly elections were conducted on Wednesday, with nearly 58 per cent of the capital’s 1.55 crore voters casting their ballots by 5 pm. The votes will be counted on February 8.

Delhi Election 2025: Congress Thanks Voters For Exercising Their Franchise

Despite the dismal projections, the Congress expressed gratitude to the voters. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Delhi Congress Committee said, "You fulfilled your responsibility and inspired us by participating in this festival of democracy. Your support is a great strength for us." The party further assured voters, "We promise to live up to the expectations of every citizen of Delhi and maintain your trust. Your support will always encourage us to move forward in this journey to make Delhi better and more prosperous."

While the AAP is seeking a third consecutive term, the BJP hopes to return to power in Delhi after over two decades. The Congress, which has failed to secure a single seat in the last two elections, is hoping for a turnaround. However, if exit polls are accurate, the party's struggles in the capital are likely to continue.
