'Can't Serve Liquor' — Model Code Of Conduct Restricts Parties From Doing These Things Before Delhi Elections

Delhi Elections 2025: As the Election Commission Of India announced the dates for the crucial Delhi elections on Tuesday, the Model Code Of Conduct has come into force. Delhi will vote on February 5 and the results will be announced on February 8. The last date to file the nominations is January 17 and the scrutiny of nominations will be done by January 18. The candidates will be able to withdraw their nominations till January 20.
These Are The MCC Rules Which Parties Will Have To Follow
- Parties and candidates cannot serve or distribute liquor on polling day and during the forty-eight hours preceding it.
- Mosques, Churches, Temples or other places of worship can not be used as a forum for election propaganda.
- Candidates' camps shall be simple. They shall not display any posters, flags, symbols or any other propaganda material. No eatable shall be served or crowd allowed at the camps and
- Political parties or candidates cannot organise demonstrations or picketing before the houses of individuals by way of protesting against their opinions or activities.
- No political party or candidate can allow its or his followers to make use of any individual’s land, building, compound wall etc., without his permission for erecting flag-staffs, suspending banners, pasting notices, writing slogans etc.
- Political parties and candidates will have to ensure that their supporters do not create obstructions in or break up meetings and processions organised by other parties.
- Workers or sympathisers of one political party shall not create disturbances at public meetings organised by another political party by putting questions orally or in writing or by distributing leaflets of their own party.
- Posters issued by one party cannot be removed by workers of another party.

Delhi has a total of 1.55 crore voters this year — 83.49 men, 71.74 women, and 1,261 transgenders. As many as 2.08 lakh first-time voters are eligible to cast their ballots.
Moreover, Delhi will have 1.09 lakh voters aged above 85 and there will be 830 centenarians eligible to vote.
