BJP 'Sent Trained Goons To Kill Kejriwal', Alleges AAP. Saffron Party Moves Election Commission

AAP accuses BJP of sending "trained goons" to attack party chief Arvind Kejriwal during his campaign in New Delhi, alleging several criminal cases against the alleged attackers.

The Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday alleged Bharatiya Janata Party sent "trained goons" to kill party chief Arvind Kejriwal.

On Saturday, AAP alleged that Arvind Kejriwal's car was attacked by BJP candidate Parvesh Verma's supporters during campaigning in the New Delhi constituency. In response, Verma hit back accusing the AAP chief of "mowing down" people with his vehicle.

On Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi held a press conference alleging that people who hurled stones at Kejriwal's car were close aides of Verma and have several criminal cases against them.

She claimed that the alleged attackers were trained goons who had come to kill Kejriwal.

"It is clear that criminals and goons were sent to kill Arvind Kejriwal. The second person involved in the attack is Rohit Tyagi, who constantly stays with Pravesh Verma and has been involved in campaigning for Pravesh Verma," the CM said.

She showed Tyagi's purported Facebook profile with a photo of him with Verma. Atishi further said Tyagi was booked in a theft case in 2011 and a case of attempt to murder, which carries a punishment of 10 years.

The third person who was present there is named Sumit, he too has a case of theft, robbery and attempt to murder going on, she added.

" All these cases show that the three BJP goons who attacked Arvind Kejriwal yesterday are not ordinary BJP workers, but trained goons and criminals. It is clear that in the panic of elections, BJP is now trying to kill Arvind Kejriwal," Atishi said.

BJP Moves Election Commission

Hitting back at Aam Aadmi Party, BJP candidate Parvesh Verma claimed the three people alleged of attacking Kejriwal's car actually wanted to speak to him but were instead hit by the car.

"... Arvind Kejriwal has been the CM for the last 11 years, still he has to go for the door-to-door campaign. He is frustrated with the response he is getting... When the youth was asking for employment, he hit them with his car," said the BJP candidate.

Yesterday, three people from the (New Delhi) assembly tried to speak to Arvind Kejriwal, they did not have any weapons with them. Out of the three, they posted one person's picture and claimed he was a close acquaintance of mine. All the 1 lakh 9 thousand voters of (New Delhi seat) are my close acquaintance," he said.

"The car in which Arvind Kejriwal was sitting hit three people when he was in the car. The three people have given a statement that the driver had applied brakes but Arvind Kejriwal signalled him to keep driving... After that, they were injured... We have also complained to the Election Commission," Verma added.
