Chhattisgarh Polls: CM Baghel Seeks Probe Into BJP Candidates' 'Cash Transfer' Claim In 'Old' Video

Baghel on Wednesday shared a video on X, formerly Twitter, of a man who claiming to be discussing financial transactions with Tomar’s son.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday hit out at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) asking when a probe into an alleged video of Vaishali Nagar candidate Rikesh Sen admitting of helping in transfer of money to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, would be initiated. He also reiterated his demand for a probe into a video in which Union minister Narendra Tomar’s son is purportedly heard discussing some financial dealings.

"The person who has been given a ticket from Vaishali Nagar he himself says that he used to make money reach Amit Shah...will he probe that?...when will he probe Narendra Singh Tomar's son?," said Baghel while speaking to media persons in Durg, reported news agency ANI.

However, the BJP candidate Rikesh Sen has denied the allegation and said the video that has surfaced online and on some media outlets is old and has been edited.

Meanwhile, Baghel on Wednesday shared a video on X, formerly Twitter, of a man who identified himself as a resident of Canada and claimed it was him who was discussing financial transactions with Tomar’s son in an old video.

"Rs 10,000 crore game? Your (apparently referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi) agency levelled allegations of hundreds of crores of rupees (scam) against me based on an unconfirmed video and statement of a driver. Now check this also. Which agency will investigate? When will raids take place? When will there be hour-long programmes in the media," wrote Baghel sharing the video.

"The person who was talking to the minister's son on video call has confirmed the entire conversation by releasing a new video. Narendra Singh Tomar's son has also purchased 100 acres of land abroad for ganja (cannabis) cultivation,” he further wrote on X.

The viral video has given the Congress fresh ammo to target the BJP ahead of the second phase of election in the state.

The second phase of Chhattisgarh assembly elections will be held on November 17. Neighbouring Madhya Pradesh will also go to polls on the same day.
