'Congress Didn't Spare Even Mahadev's Name To Fill Its Pockets': PM Modi's Dig At Chhattisgarh CM Baghel

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a dig at Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel over allegations by ED in Mahadev betting app case.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday trained guns on Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, a day later after the Enforcement Directorate alleged that promoters of Mahadev app paid Rs 508 crore to the latter. The enforcement agency had on Friday said it recorded the statement of a "cash courier" who stated that Mahadev betting app owners gave Rs 508 crores to CM Baghel and that it is now a "subject matter of investigation."

"The Congress government in Chhattisgarh is leaving no chance to loot you. They have not even left 'Mahadev's' name," Modi said during an election rally in poll-bound Chhattisgarh's Durg.

"Couple of days ago, a big action was taken in Raipur and a huge amount of cash was recovered. People are saying that this money belong to 'sattebaaz' who collected this amount by looting others," said the PM.

The Mahadev online betting app is currently under the scanner of ED as the probe agency has launched a probe against the sponsors of the app under anti-money laundering legislation.

Facing the heat of ED's allegation amid fast approaching polls in the state, Baghel hit the Bharatiya Janata Party with the counter-allegation of using central agencies to win the upcoming polls.

"As I have said earlier, Bharatiya Janata Party wants to contest Chhattisgarh elections with the help of agencies like ED, IT, DRI and CBI. Just before the elections, ED has made the most malicious attempt to tarnish my image. This is an attempt to defame the Congress government through ED," Baghel said in a post on X.
