Bhagwant Mann Govt At Risk? Punjab Congress MP Claims AAP MLAs In Talks to Defect

After the major setback in the Delhi elections, the Aam Aadmi Party faces potential defections in Punjab, as Congress claims that several AAP MLAs are eager to join them.

After the Delhi polls debacle, the Aam Aadmi Party could be in trouble in Punjab. The Congress has now made a big claim about AAP MLAs wanting to jump ship. Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said several AAP MLAs are in touch with him. He went as far as to claim "Congress will form the government if given a chance".

Alleging that people from Punjab were called to influence Delhi elections, Aujla said: "If Kejriwal wants to become CM, he should clear his confusion, people will not tolerate it. Many AAP MLAs are in touch with Congress. If AAP MLAs come together, Congress will form the government," he said.

The AAP currently has 93 MLAs in the 117-member Punjab Assembly led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. To form the government, the Congress will need the support of 59 MLAs. The party currently has only 16 legislators in the assembly.

On Monday, the Amritsar MP said: "They [AAP] have lost Delhi and are planning for Punjab. They have made the condition of Punjab very bad. No new development work has been done. The people of Punjab have already lost their faith in them."
