Assam CM Himanta Invokes Tendulkar To Explain 400-Seat Target, Says 'We Can Replace Gyanvapi Masjid...': WATCH

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that BJP needs 400 seats to build temples in Mathura and Kashi, and merge Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir with India.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday slammed the Opposition for asking 'why the BJP needs 400 seats'. He even invoked cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar to defend the BJP's call for '400 paar (400-plus)' seats. Dismissing the Congress's allegations that the BJP would change the Constitution if it came to power a third term, Himanta said 400 seats would enable the BJP to build temples in Mathura and Varanasi.

"Would you ask Sachin Tendulkar why he scored double and triple centuries? When we had 300 seats, built Ram Mandir. Now, if we get 400 seats, Mathura will see the realisation of Krishna Janmabhoomi. We shall replace the Gyanvapi Masjid in Varanasi with a grand temple dedicated to Baba Vishwanath." "We will also be able to clean up the mess spread by the Mughals," Himanta added.

Besides the promises of building temples in Mathura and Kashi, the Assam CM added that the Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir will also be merged with India under the leadership of PM Modi. "We were told during the Congress's regime that Kashmir is part of both India and Pakistan... If Modiji gets 400 seats, we will bring the PoK to India. If I continue with the list of our plans with 400 seats, Congress will reach the ICU," the Assam CM said.

While addressing a public meeting in support of BJP candidate Harsh Malhotra in Laxmi Nagar, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the PM Modi-led government fulfilled all the promises.

Himanta Biswa Sarma also mentioned the incident of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal's alleged assault by the Delhi Chief Minister's secretary Bibhav Kumar at the CM's residence. The Assam CM said that Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar should take suo motu cognisance of the incident.

"Yesterday, he also thrashed a Rajya Sabha MP. I think the vice president, who is also the chairman of the Rajya Sabha, should take suo motu cognisance of how a chief minister can beat up a Rajya Sabha MP," news agency PTI quoted Sarma as saying.
